Well I created a thread with a list of specs which my friend told me he could get for me already built for around £1000. The thread link is here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10392543.

He gave me the link where he could get it from but it said it was overclocked to 3.80 GHz which I thought would make the life short for the computer and I really need to know how long it would last me if I use it around 3 hours max each day? I just need a guestimate of how long it would last me if I were to use it 3 hours a day?

assuming it's a stable overclock with sufficient cooling, probably years at the rate you are using it.

Well the thing is I'm not sure whether the cooler is good enough and I'm not really good with computer parts so is this a good CPU cooler? Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler

from all indications, it seems to be a good cooler. i'd say you're fine.

if you really don't feel like overclocking your hardware, you can just dial back the overclock to a more moderate 3.2 ghz (or there abouts), or change it back to default. a core i7 is fast enough either way.

Aslong as you keep the intake clear from dust in other stuff, it should be fine, my system runs 24/7 and has been for over 3 years now, only issue i had was one of my Raptor HDD's died.

If you don't know what your doing, and in spite of what the enthusiasts tell you, don't overclock it at all. Then it will last until it's obsolete. In that case, the stock cooler would be ok, but an aftermarket one could make it run a bit cooler.
You'll never actually notice the difference in performance if you don't overclock, so if you are worried about how long it will last - "just say no!"

This is true, why are you getting an overclocked one anyway, do you really need that Over clock, most people that overclock are doing it to run benchmarks, not general everyday gaming/computer use ( im aware that some do )

With the CPU being overclocked by nearly 50% it will generate alot more heat and use more power, bigger chance of something going wrong.

yep, I concur - for the typical user OCing is not really worth it.... if you are leary of it then stay away from it and save yourself the stress... peace of mind is worth a few extra 0.? ghz
